About
Kickstart

We quickly started with analysing the current designs. We had following questions in our mind while doing so :

  • How many people are interacting with this feature in our app daily?

  • What is the ratio of traffic on this feature and most used feature on the app?

  • What are the problems users are facing while using this feature?

  • How can we make this feature stand out?

Research
Data Analysis

  • On an average there are 7-12% of total users who use feed via friends icon click.

  • Out of those only 5-6% users upload status and 7-10% users who upload post

What are the major entry points?

The major entry points are friends icon and user feed. It's surprising to know that the usage of feed via “my posts” section in profile and through other people’s posts via their profile is similar to the usage of feed via bottom icon.

What is the average time-spent?
  • Average time spent per event is 4-5 min.

  • Average time spent per user is 7-8 min.

User Interviews
Themes and Insights

  • Videos take a lot of time to play and there is no thumbnail on them as well.

  • Topics in the current feature while posting an image doesn't work.

  • User complained to get a lot of notifications and not knowing how to get rid of them

  • Sometimes vulgar content is seen in posts. Ban id of such students. People send links to different groups in comments and share random messages in the group.

  • Users can not share posts to a particular group or friends.

  • User can not tag a friend in a post of comment.

  • There is no option to download any post liked by the user.

  • User asked for providing reel feature on doubtnut like Instagram

  • Class wise division should be there so that users can follow people of their interest.

Insights

  • People talk taking names in comments. It will be better to provide an option to tag people.

  • When we click on an image it should get enlarged along with the context - the text or tag shared with it or we can also allow nothing to happen when the user clicks on a particular image. The size should be sufficient to display directly on main page.

  • Swipe down action should also lead us to close the comments window. Currently, nothing happens.

  • Videos are being played in another page. People will barely click any video explicitly to watch. We can provide autoplay- It will enhance the experience manifold.

  • The size of the box where images and videos are displayed should not vary. It should be consistent throughout.

  • Latest comments should come at the top.
